Journey to Forgiveness and Healing to begin May 18

     All EBCI tribal members are invited to join elders and other tribal members on a historical journey.  Transportation is provided. 

     The Cherokee 2012 Journey to Forgiveness and Healing begins Friday, May 18 traveling by bus to Tahlequah, Okla. to join brothers and sisters from the Cherokee Nation and the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians.  The group will retrace the Trail of Tears northern route arriving back in Cherokee on Thursday, May 24. 

     Food and lodging for the trip is estimated to cost around $500 double occupancy.  There are some scholarships available for those who need financial support.  Registration is open until April 25.  To register, call 631-3903 or visit https://www.cherokeehealing.com and register online.

     The Homecoming will be celebrated Friday, May 25 on the sacred ground of Kituwah at 9am.  This free event for EBCI tribal members and Cherokee from Oklahoma will feature lunch, dinner, snacks and refreshments. There will be lots of fun, fellowship, programs and activities. 

     The Cherokee Healing and Wellness Coalitions is also hosting a Universal Gathering on Saturday, May 26 beginning at 9am at Kituwah that is open to all.  Non-enrolled members will be charged $75 for this event.  It will include morning snack, lunch, dinner and other refreshments throughout the day. There will be speakers and cultural events.
