Mark Brown – obituary

     Mark Brown, age 81, of the Snowbird Community, departed from this life to a better life on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at his residence, after a period of declining health.

     He was the son of the late Peter and Annie Conseen Brown.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Moody Brown, his brother Lewis Brown, and his daughter, Lucille Brown Weeks.

     Mark was the last surviving member of the Old Snowbird Indian Quartet.  He was a long standing member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

     He is survived by his wife, Nan Brown of Robbinsville; his sister, Alice Lewis and her husband Harry; his brother, Jim Brown Welch and his wife Antonia, all of Robbinsville; his grandson, Israel Weeks of Robbinsville; his granddaughter, Toni Lynn Dunn of Calhoun, Ga.; two step daughters, Linda Kemp of Cherokee and Mary Tushka of Glendale, Ky.; his step son, Will Tushka and his wife Stephanie of Cherokee; his friend Jerry Maney of Cherokee; and his son-in-law, Spencer Weeks of Robbinsville.  He has 11 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

     Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  The Reverends Michael Rattler, Noah Crowe and Wayne Bunch will officiate.  Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5-9pm Friday, April 13 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.
