The Cherokee Reservation Dispatch received a report of a head-on collision at or near the intersection of Jeff Toineeta Rd and Wolfe Town Rd (aka – US19), which is located on the Cherokee Indian Reservation. The initial report came into dispatch at 2:04pm on Wednesday, Feb. 29 with the caller reporting an accident involving a truck and car.
A Natural Resource Enforcement officer reported via radio of three persons injured, one of which was trapped in a vehicle, unresponsive. He also said the car was on fire. The Cherokee Fire and Rescue arrived and was able to put the fire out. That victim died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The names of the victims or the deceased have not been released due to the families not being contacted as of this release. There was no information regarding charges being filed until the accident investigation is complete.
