Two Braves earn top seeds in this weekend’s Regional Wrestling Tournament

               Eleven members of the Cherokee Braves varsity wrestling team have qualified and will travel to the 1A West Wrestling Regionals at Isothermal Community College in Spindale starting on Friday, Feb. 17 at 5pm.   Colby Yanez has received the top seed in the 145lb. division and Sam Wahnetah has received the top seed in the 285lb. division. 

1A West Regional Brackets for all weight divisions

                The Braves who qualified are shown with their weight division, season record and regional tournament seed:

120lb. – Austin Padilla (17-13), 10th seed

126lb. – Levi Swearengin (25-11), 7th seed

132lb. – Cain Oocumma (14-5), 9th seed

138lb. – Jaron Bradley (16-17), 11th seed

145lb. – Colby Yanez (32-4), 1st seed

152lb. – Wade Wolfe (18-13), 12th seed

160lb. – Tavi Rivera, 2nd seed

170lb. – Taylor Davis (25-9), 5th seed

195lb. – Will Bird (21-5), 3rd seed

220lb. – Raymond Taylor (19-11), 7th seed

285lb. – Sam Wahnetah (32-1), 1st seed

                Last weekend, Padilla and Davis won 9th grade state championships in their respective weight divisions.
