AGELINK APPROVED FOR KIDS EAT SMART MOVE MORE TRAINING GRANT
The North Carolina Nutrition Services Branch announced that Agelink Child Development Center was approved to receive funding for two staff to attend the “Healthy Futures, Starting in the Kitchen” training on March 16 in Charlotte. Healthy Futures participants will be required to attend a complimentary training with the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) highlighting healthy menu planning and enhanced nutrition standards in CACFP. The grant requires that the program manager, Tammy Bradley, and the program’s cook, Tina Saunooke, attend this training.
CHILDRENS’ HOME WELCOMES NEW STAFF
The Boys Club welcomes new Administrative Staff to the Cherokee Children’s Home. Cris Weatherford, Department Manager, recently hired Monica Wildcatt to fill the position of Social Worker for the Children’s Home and Monica “Tigger” Lambert as the new Administrative Assistant. Both of these ladies will play a vital role in the daily operation of the Children’s Home as well as being involved in the upcoming fundraising campaign for the construction of a new Children’s Home facility that will be located on Goose Creek Road in Birdtown. Groundbreaking for this project is slated for April 2012.

Three Cherokee High School seniors recently signed to play collegiate football with Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. The three players are: Tight End Pancho Ramirez, Lineman Forrest Stamper and Wide Receiver Jeremy Wolfe. We congratulate these young men and extend our best wishes and good luck for their academic and sports future. Carson-Newman College, a Christian, private liberal arts institution, is located approximately 25 miles east of Knoxville.
AGELINK GOES TO THE CIRCUS
The 3-5 year old students enjoyed a field trip to the Circus at the BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina Friday. Thanks to the Parent Group and Agelink staff that helped raise the funds for this trip. Thanks also to Allan Oocumma for volunteering his time to drive the bus for them.
Agelink will hold a “Chili Stack” fundraiser on Friday, February 17. The price of the meal will be $5.00. There will also be a bake sale during this event. Funds raised at this event will go toward the summer field trips for the students. Stay tuned for more details!
