Big Cove Council Report
Would like to wish everyone a happy and joyous Christmas and New Year. I am happy to report that our Tribal Budgets have been passed and hopefully we can get on with the fiscal year. I must let everyone know that this year’s budget was not easy and there are still issues. We as a tribe must come to grips with the fact that we are going to have to get control of excessive spending and start running the tribe in a more efficient manner.
I also want to report that Galamore Rd. paving project is close to completion with only the painting of the road left. I also want to thank Tribal DOT for installing speed breakers for Galamore Bridge Rd. It has been a busy time with a lot of committee meetings and negotiations for our new gaming compact being signed by NC Governor, Bev Perdue. The process is not completed as we are waiting for the NC General Assembly to do their part. Because this issue is not totally complete, I will save any comments for a later report. If you have questions or comments, I would gladly set some time to talk with you about this or any other matter. Please contact me at 828-736-2947.
