Four EBCI tribal members, one Choctaw sentenced to federal prison

                Four members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and one member of the Mississppi Band of Choctaw Indians were sentenced on various charges in U.S. District Court on Friday, Dec. 9 by District Judge Martin Reidinger. 

                John William George, 21, EBCI tribal member from Whittier, was sentenced to serve 43 months and 39 months, to run consecutive, for a total of 82 months, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.  He pled guilty on Jan. 19 to sexually abusing a minor and to stealing firearms.

                Jacob Jackson Ivey, Jr., 29, EBCI tribal member from Cherokee, was sentenced to serve 33 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.  He pled guilty on March 8 to possession of a firearm by a felon.

                Bridgeo Martino Phillips, 29, MBCI tribal member from Philadelphia, Miss., was sentenced to serve 200 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release.  He pled guilty on Nov. 10, 2010 to second degree murder.  The victim, Phillips’ wife, was also a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

                Adrian Shane George, 20, EBCI tribal member from Cherokee, was sentenced to 55 months in prison to be followed by two years of supervised release.  She previously pled guilty to robbery.

                Paul Kenneth Taylor, 20, EBCI tribal member from Cherokee, was sentenced to 50 months in prison to be followed by two years of supervised release.  He previously pled guilty to robbery.
