Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel was awarded the 2011 North Carolina Travel Industry Association’s (NCTIA) Tourism Excellence Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Development of Tourism in North Carolina. The esteemed award recognizes efforts made to develop the travel industry in North Carolina and the improvements made in the quality of life of the people of the state.
Harris Prevost, vice president of Grandfather Mountain and past president of NCTIA, presented the award to Frieda Huskey, one of the original employees at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel and now Group Sales Coordinator for the Eastern Band of Cherokee, during the 2011 Tourism Leadership Conference Awards Banquet held on Sept. 22 at the Embassy Suites in Concord, North Carolina.
“These are good people, and if you stay at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel as I have, you see great customer service provided by caring people in a well-run organization,” said Prevost. “Harrah’s jobs, tribe distributions, combined with a major over all economic boost, have given a lot of people security, peace of mind and dignity. You can’t put a price on that.”
