James Michael (Jim) Taylor, 61, of Cherokee passed away September 5, 2011 at Elizabeth House Hospice in Hendersonville following an extended illness. He was a resident of the Birdtown Community and had been residing part time with his daughter in Brevard, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James (Hogeye), and Ellen Driver Taylor, and a sister, Kimberly Taylor Jenkins.
He is survived by his children, Jamie Taylor of Brevard and Jessica Miranda Taylor of the home; a brother, Scott Taylor of Cherokee; sisters, Sandra T. Reagan, Terrie Taylor, and Pamela Taylor all of Cherokee, and seven nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Long House Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 from 6 PM until 8 PM, with Ray Kinsland as speaker. The funeral will be held at 2 PM on Thursday September 8, 2011 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Lee Jenks will officiate. Burial will be in the Birdtown Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be Mandy Taylor, Tony Taylor, Josh Taylor, Spalding McIntosh, John Long, and Zach Hicks.
