Senate Committee on Indian Affairs to tackle Recognition Bills

ONE FEATHER STAFF REPORT 

               The Senate Committee on Indian Affairs is scheduled to hold a business meeting on Thursday, July 28 at 2:15pm in the Dirksen Senate Building 628 in Washington.  Several bills will be discussed including:

– S. 546, A bill to extend Federal recognition to the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians of Montana

– S. 379, A bill to extend Federal recognition to the Chickahominy Indian Tribe, the Chicakahominy Indian Tribe – Eastern Division, the Upper Mattaponi Tribe, the Rappahannock Tribe Inc., the Monacan Indian Nation, and the Nansemond Indian Tribe

– S. 1218, A bill to extend Federal recognition to the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina
