Darlene Emmaline Bird, 49, of Cherokee died July 18, 2011 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. She was a resident of the Birdtown Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Toby Bird Goings and Doris Youngdeer Bird, and brothers, Emerson Bird, Jr. and James Albert Goings.
She is survived by a son, Damien Chapman; brother, Richard Bird; and sister, Loretta Johnson Bolden.
Visitation was held on Tuesday evening July 19, 2011, beginning at 7PM at Cherokee Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at the church on July 20, 2011 at 2 PM. Burial followed in the Bradley Cemetery.
The Rev. Percy Cunningham will officiate. Pall Bearers are Richard Bird, III, Joseph Husky, Nicholas Bird, Devin Mason, Joe Bird, and Homer Bradley.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
