Cherokee and Olivet Churches receive New Pastor

     Dr. Larry Ousley is assigned to serve as pastor of the Qualla Greater Parish beginning April 1.  The Qualla Greater Parish consists of the Cherokee and Olivet United Methodist Churches (UMC). Olivet UMC has worship each Sunday at 9:45 am, and Cherokee UMC has worship each Sunday at 11 am. Each church has additional activities on a weekly basis that you might be interested in attending.

     Rev. Ousley will serve as pastor on a part-time basis as he is also the Director of the Intentional Growth Center (IGC) at Lake Junaluska, NC. Before coming to IGC, he served as senior pastor of several large churches and on the conference staff in the Holston Conference of the UMC. Dr. Ousley grew up in Alcoa Tennessee and received his undergraduate degree from UT Knoxville. He earned masters and doctoral degrees from Emory University and Vanderbilt University.

     Larry is married to Darlene Saunders Ousley. Both Larry and Darlene are certified, professional life coaches recognized through the International Coach Federation. Darlene has a Master’s degree in Cherokee Studies from Western Carolina University. Larry also has advanced training and certification in relationship, team and organizational coaching. Larry enjoys music, chess, family activities, and meditative walks in nature.
