Madison Hornbuckle Children’s Cancer Foundation says
thank you to donors

The Madison Hornbuckle Children’s Cancer Foundation hosted a thank you luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 21 for donors and partners at the new Paula Deen Restaurant at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino & Hotel in Cherokee. The foundation works to raise funding for families with children facing critical illness.

Madison Hornbuckle, an EBCI tribal member, succumbed to leukemia at the age of 10.

Principal Chief Michell Hicks said, “Her short life was marked by her remarkable determination to bring joy to others.” 

The foundation board members include Corky Swayney (Madison’s grandmother), Ashleigh Brown, Kathi Littlejohn, Janice Jones, Charlotte Saunooke and Dorothy Smith. Madison’s mother and sister were also in attendance.

The Madison Hornbuckle Children’s Cancer Foundation announced that they had raised more than $100,000 and that the board was prepared to begin distributions.

Some of the major contributors include Turner Construction, Roswell Drywall Company, Quality Sprinkler Company, MCC Mechanicals of the Carolinas, Baker Concrete Construction, The Miller-Clapperton Partnership, Cunningham Group Architecture, Holston Glass Company, CIC Technologies and the Sequoyah Fund.
