Many of us know that middle and high school students are not hungry first thing in the morning or they want to hang out with friends. Due to this fact, many students will go without breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for schoolchildren, because it provides fuel to nourish bodies and prepare youngsters for learning. Many schools have adopted a new style for breakfast called “Grab ‘N Go”, to better meet the needs of students. Grab ‘N Go breakfasts not only provide a healthy meal for healthy minds, but they also allow students the flexibility and choice to eat breakfast where and when they want. Grab ‘N Go breakfasts are also convenient for food service staff and prepackaged breakfasts can take less time to prepare than traditional breakfasts. Because it is so easy and efficient for students to grab a bag, this method also allows schools to serve a breakfast more quickly to students.
The Grab ‘N Go method is currently being used at many schools nationwide. One school in Pennsylvania reports that not only do students take advantage of the new breakfast option, but teachers are very pleased with the Grab ‘N Go style and are very supportive. Middle and High School students at Cherokee Central Schools will be given the Grab ‘N Go Breakfast option starting Monday, January 11, 2010. Bagged choices will be available from 7:30 to 8:00am every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We know each student takes pride in their school and will clean up after they enjoy their Grab N’ Go Breakfast.
