Council establishes Code Committee to clean, condense laws
Hardly a session of Tribal Council goes by that doesn’t involve some disagreement over the Cherokee Code – many times those discussions involve conflicting parts of law.
Council falls short of overriding veto on Vice Chief Special Election
In a contentious debate during its regular session on Thursday, Sept. 14, Tribal Council fell short of the two-thirds vote required to override Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed’s veto of Res. No. 692 (2017) dealing with a Special Election for the vacant office of Vice Chief.

Most teenagers are out on a Saturday night, watching movies, hanging out with their friends, looking for something to do, but for a group of Cherokee High School seniors, they boarded a Cherokee Boys Club charter bus on Saturday, April 17 at 10pm to travel to New York City for their senior trip.

William Carmichael and Storm Sequoyah combined for more total yards than the entire North Duplin team on Friday night, but the Rebels were able to squeak out a 14-7 win over the Braves on a 4th quarter touchdown in the first round of the 1A State playoffs at home on Friday, Nov. 13.
