Official proposal submitted for Kuwohi name change
Lavita Hill and Mary Crowe, both members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), submitted a proposal to the U.S. Board on Geographic Names (BGN) on Tuesday, Feb. 6 on behalf of EBCI Principal Chief Michell Hicks and Tribal Council to officially request the name change of Clingman’s Dome, located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and restore it to the original name Kuwohi.
“Sharing the knowledge”: Off-Site Collections Facility project moving forward
A facility to house historical collections of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is moving forward. Currently in the early planning stages, the Off-Site Collections Facility (a working name only) will be built at the Kituwah site.

Kituwah, LLC launches AllTribe Advertising
In December 2023, Kituwah, LLC officially launched their advertising company, AllTribe Advertising which is a Cherokee-based all-inclusive advertising agency with a leadership team comprised of Chris McCoy, Matt Levin, and Luke Swimmer.
EBCI, Caesars to enter mobile sports betting market
Mobile sports betting will go live in North Carolina on March 11, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) plans to be a part of that market.
