For the past 8 years, members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the Cherokee Nation and the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee Indians have come together for the Cherokee language in a Speaker’s Consortium. This annual event was held June 25-27 in Cherokee.

EBCI WIC, along with other WIC offices throughout the state, has implemented a new computer system that will help streamline services to clients. The system rolled out at EBCI WIC on Monday, June 23.

A group of students from Illinois State University spent the past month learning about historic Cherokee towns. The students, participants in the university’s Archaeological Field School, studied Cherokee towns and mounds such as Cowee and presented their findings to the Cherokee community on Wednesday, June 25 at the Yellowhill Community Building.
