Inmate sues for EBCI membership

An inmate at Sing-Sing Correctional Facility in Ossining, New York claims Cherokee blood and has filed a lawsuit seeking to become a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Pay raise lawsuit filed in Tribal Court

After months of threatening litigation, a lawsuit has been filed in Cherokee Tribal Court on the issue of the disputed pay raises approved by Tribal Council last fall. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians for Justice & Accountability (EBCIJA) filed the suit on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Simermeyer named NIGC associate member
