The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation is a grant-making organization in North Carolina that focuses on several areas including economic development, environmental issues, public education, social justice and equity, and more. Now, an EBCI tribal member has been selected to join the group’s Community Leadership Council.

Forrest Dakota Hill, 23, of Easley, SC, was sentenced to federal prison on Tuesday, Aug. 16 for 200 months for the 2015 murder of a male victim on federal land.

U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger sentenced Lowney Yohnagalegi Crow, 33, an EBCI tribal member of Cherokee, on Tuesday, Aug. 16 to 87 months in prison on charges of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Tribal Council approved a measure earlier this month to wage an investigation into various personnel issues regarding tribal employees of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
