Doug Mathews, 74, of the Towstring Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Seab and Floy Lambert Mathews.
He was a faithful servant of the Lord.
Doug is survived by his wife of 47 years, Glenda Mathews; two sons, Scott Mathews and wife Jeanne of Sylva, and Brian Mathews and wife Juanita of Cherokee; three grandchildren, Crystal Mathews, Ricky Mathews, and Eli Mathews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Towstring Cemetery. Randall Watkins will officiate.
Doug will be taken back to Towstring Baptist Church at 5:00 PM Wednesday to await the hour of service.
