ROBBINSVILLE – Cherokee’s Jaron Bradley, senior, took first place in the 152lb division at the James Orr Memorial Invitational Tournament held in Robbinsville on Saturday, Jan. 17.
In the quarterfinals, Bradley won an 11-5 decision over Avery County’s Blake Williams. In the semifinals, Bradley pinned Chance Mariotti from Habersham Center, and in the finals, Bradley won an 11-4 decision over Swain’s Graham Allen.
Cherokee’s Jesse Queen took third place in the 120lb division. He pinned Jonas Seagle, Hendersonville, in the quarterfinals and then lost a close 7-5 decision in the semifinals. Queen pinned Michael Briggs, Owen, in the consolation semifinals and then won an 11-4 decision over John-William Chastain, Murphy, in the third place match.
Anthony Toineeta, Cherokee, took third place in the 138lb division. He was disqualified in the quarterfinals and went on to win a 7-1 decision over Kyle Knight, Avery County, in the consolation quarterfinals. He then won a 7-3 decision over Tanner Jones, Cherryville, in the consolation semifinals and pinned Kyle Graves, Hayesville, in the third place match.
Other Cherokee wrestlers participating included: Scarlet Guy (132), Andrew Griffin (182lb), Steven Daggs (195), Daniel Griffin (220) and Dakota Ward (285).
