AMORIE GUNTER

MISS CHEROKEE 2016-17

Siyo, hello the month of November has been very busy for me. I had the privilege of attending the Veteran’s Day celebration and see the official unveiling of the Charles George statue. I can’t thank the men and women, who have fought for our freedoms, enough for their service.

I have been volunteering for the Cherokee Babyface program for many years. This month, I had the honor of attending as Miss Cherokee. It was so fun to see all the kids get so excited to see me. I attended many events at Swain schools to talk about Native American Heritage Month. I was able to speak to and connect with so many children.

I was also in Franklin’s parade which was a lot of fun. At the end of November, many fires hit Gatlinburg causing numerous business and family homes to be destroyed. I started a gofundme account and began collecting donations. I raised $270 in 3 days, which was donated to the town of Gatlinburg. I also bought supplies and collected hundreds of dollars worth of clothes, snacks, water, and toiletries that I took over Friday. Teen Miss Cherokee Jade Ledford also donated a bunch of items to me. I am very thankful to everyone who donated or helped in anyway.

If anyone would like to request me at an event please contact
