Merritt “Bub” Youngdeer Jr., 48, passed from his earthly home at 56 Youngdeer Mountain Rd. in Cherokee to his eternal home with the Lord on July 10, 2014.
Merritt was born on July 11, 1965 at the PHS Indian Hospital in Rosebud, SD to Merritt Youngdeer Sr. and Lulie (Wilson) Youngdeer. He was an avid car buff and enjoyed buying and restoring vintage cars. He majored in Radio TV/Broadcasting at Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Minn. He worked for Native America Calling, Cherokee Youth in Radio Programming and various Radio/TV stations in New Mexico, Oklahoma and North Carolina.
Merritt was a loving and caring person who had many friends and will be dearly missed, but for his brothers and sisters in Christ, we will see him again!
Merritt is also survived by his grandparents, Robert and Geneva Alene Youngdeer; three sisters, Connie Sue Maine of Aberdeen, SD, Lauren Leigh Armachain and husband Martin of Cherokee, and Audra Lynn Vogel and husband Chad of Aberdeen, SD; nephews, Orion Holmberg of Cherokee and Zack Vogel of Aberdeen, SD; nieces, Taylor Maine, Peyton Maine and Ashley Vogel all of Aberdeen, SD; two aunts, Ruth Schaudroff of Gainesville, TX and Judith nelson of Lawton, Okla. and many cousins in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Georgia, South Dakota and Texas.
The funeral service will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church on Monday, July 14 at 11am. Pastor Conseen will officiate the services. An immediate burial will follow the service in the Youngdeer Cemetery off Goose Creek Road in Cherokee with the pall bearers being Orion Holmberg, Joe Martin, John R. Nelson, Mooser Lambert, Ernie Lambert and Jarrett Crowe.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family in arrangements of services.
