Kendall Toineeta was a scoring machine against Robbinsville on Friday, Jan. 18. She poured in 35 points to lead the Lady Braves (14-1) to a 85-79 win over the Lady Black Knights.
Cherokee led 23-12 after the first period and 48-39 at halftime. The second half was relatively even with Robbinsville outscoring Cherokee 40-37, but that was not enough as Cherokee would take the win by six points.
Other Lady Braves scorers included: Bree Stamper 6, Jordyn Thompson 5, Miranda Smith 4, Deija Burgess 2, Alexis Maney 6, Avery Mintz 25 and Angel Saine 2.
Lady Knights scorers included: Lynsey Crisp 20, Sydney Moody 4, Cheyenne Orr 4, Amber Long 24, Daylee Brooms 12, Erin Maennle 10, Kinsley Orr 2 and Desiree Williams 3.
In the boy’s game, Robbinsville won 70-63 in a game that was close until the fourth period. The teams tied at 18 in the first period and Cherokee (7-6) took a 33-31 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Braves edged Robbinsville 14-13 in the third period and led 37-34 going into the final period. But, the Black Knights turned it on and outscored the Braves 26-16 in the final period to take the win.
Seth Littlejohn led the Braves with 29 points.
Other Braves scorers included: Raven Frankiewicz 10, Derrick Ledford 7, Eli Littlejohn 10 and Jesse Toineeta 7.
Black Knight scorers included: Cruz Galaviz 8, Jesse Franks 1, Cole Husky 2, Brett Crowe 10, Skyler Matheson 6, Isaiah Phillips 12, Zane Wachacha 14 and Ben Wiggins 17.
