Robert Boyd Shell, 41, better known Simon, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday Nov. 25, 2012 at his residence in Cherokee.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Shell Cucumber and maternal grandparents; Boyd and Mary Shell.
He is survived by his brothers; Henry Shell and Keith Shell; one sister, Mavella Shell Martinez; two nephews, Jason and Justin Shell; and one niece, Kennedy Shell. Also surviving are his aunts, Hazel Shell and Beth Toineeta; one uncle, Boyd Henry Shell as well as numerous cousins.
Simon was a jack of all trades. If anyone needed help Simon was always willing to lend a hand. He used his insurmountable sense of humor to diffuse a tough situation. He was a real jokester when it came to working with the guys on his crew at Cherokee Enterprise. This was a job that Simon truly loved. He enjoyed going to work every day. His presence will be missed for years to come.
A service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 11 a.m. Rev. Red Bradley and Ray Kinsland officiated. Pall Bearers were John Toineeta, Sam Toineeta, Jason Shell, Justin Shell, Roy Bradley, Jonas Plummer, James Plummer and Tony Elkovich.
Burial was in the Shell Family Cemetery located on Rattlesnake Mtn. in the Yellowhill Community. Long House Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
