The People to People Ambassador Program recently announced the selection of Christine F. Davis, an EBCI tribal member, as a Student Ambassador for their upcoming summer travel program. Leaving on June 29 and returning on July 15, Davis will be traveling to Australia and New Zealand for two and a half weeks.

People to People’s mission is to “bridge cultural and political borders through education and exchange, making the world a better place for future generations.” She is one of 14 individuals that was selected from the Southeastern United States. On her selection, she stated, “I am really excited. I think it’s a great opportunity for whoever gets to go.”
The program offers premium travel experiences:
- She will have exclusive access to behind-the-scenes activities that are available only to Student Ambassadors.
- As a Student Ambassador, the world is her classroom. She will learn from historians, educational experts, and professional guides. In addition, she will be better prepared for success in the classroom now and in the future.
- She will make lifetime friendships with fellow delegates as well as new friends as she participates in exciting adventures and hands-on cultural experiences.
As an ambassador, Davis will represent her school, community, state, and country while traveling abroad. She further commented, “I hope to gain more independence and be able to apply what I gather from this trip as much as possible in my everyday life.” She will be able to experience new cultures, places, and activities, and gain access to people and destinations as well as earn academic credit.
She is the daughter of Marigeun Arch and Willis Davis of the Yellowhill Community. Arch stated, “Our family and I are so proud of her. We think this is an excellent opportunity for her. I know she will represent the EBCI and the US, for that matter, very well. She has always made us proud and I know she will continue to do wonderful in whatever she puts her mind to.”
Davis will be a rising sophomore this fall at Cherokee High School.
