Margaret Jones Bradburn, age 93, of Morningstar Assisted Living in Sylva, died Monday, February 6, 2012. Margaret was a life-long resident of Jackson County. The daughter of the late Lyle and the late Gracie (Holcombe) Jones, she was the wife of the late Robert Bradburn of Whittier, NC.
Margaret retired from the Jackson County School System. She served in a variety of roles in various local businesses, including the management of the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce in the 1960s. She was instrumental in the incorporation of the Thomas Memorial Cemetery and a founding member of the Qualla Community Club. Margaret was a member of the Jackson County Homemakers Extension Club for more than 50 years and a tireless volunteer for local organizations.
She is survived by her daughter, Bobbie Henderson and husband Ronald, granddaughter, Traci Clark, all of Whittier; and great granddaughter, Katlyn Brahmer of Greensboro; as well as several well-loved nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 10, at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Steve Jamison and the Rev. Dr. Karen Marcus will officiate with burial in the Thomas Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church an hour before the service.
