Lucinda Jane Bradley, 64, of Cherokee passed away April 9, 2011 at Haywood Regional Hospital in Waynesville following an extended illness. She was a member of Rock Springs Church and was a Cherokee artisan. She enjoyed making beadwork and pottery, and she loved to cook. Although Janie was blind, she saw more than most of us with sight.
Janie is survived by her son, Kirby Bradley of Statesville, NC; daughters, Rhonda Cucumber of Cherokee, and Samona Mejia of Hendersonville, NC; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Edna “Eddie” Bradley, Nikki and husband Kenny Nations, Reggie and husband Jeff Crowe, who was a special brother-in-law, and special friend, Henderson Climbingbear, all of Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by her father, Deweese Bradley, her mother, Edith “Babe” Welch Bradley, a brother, James E. Bradley, one son, one granddaughter, and one nephew.
The family received friends at Yellowhill Baptist Church on Monday April 11, 2011, beginning at 4 PM where the body will remain until the service hour of 2PM on Tuesday April 12, 2011. The Rev. Foreman Bradley will officiate. Pall bearers will be Dre, Thunder, Jeff, James, Deweese, and Fuzz.
