The 2011 LEAD Summer Business Institute is a unique summer program that allows students to live on a college campus, learn about college admissions and discover how an exciting career in business or finance can benefit the Native community.
Nearly 40 Native American students have participated in this program since 2009.

Students take classes in marketing, accounting, finance, economics and ethics with some of the top professors in the country. On the weekends, students engage in a variety of extracurricular activities including movies, theme parks and sporting events.
The LEAD curriculum also includes content relevant to Native American communities. Tribal leaders and Native people working in the financial services industry visit each campus and serve as motivational speakers. They help students understand how a career in business or finance can make a positive impact in the Native community.
Requirements: Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and provide proof of tribal enrollment to apply.
Cost: The cost of the program is $1,300 plus the cost of airfare. However, Native American students are eligible to apply for scholarships provided by NAFOA. Last year, NAFOA awarded scholarships to 90 percent of the Native students admitted into the program. SIGNIFICANT SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE THIS YEAR.
