Johnson Lee Wildcatt, 62, of Cherokee died August 20, 2010 at home after a brief illness. Johnson was employed by the Cherokee Boys Club and was a member of the Birdtown Community.
He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn, sons Johnny Wildcatt of the home, Guy Wildcatt of Asheville and daughter Jennifer Wildcatt of Cherokee, two special granddaughters Kenda and Nevayah Panther, sisters Diane Wildcatt, Sally Davis, Melitia Lossiah, Hattie Milholen and Kathleen Mendez.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bodie Wildcatt and Bessie Jackson Wildcatt, son Kenny Wildcatt, brothers Jack, William, and Abraham Wildcatt and one sister Lucy Wildcatt.
The body was taken to the home at 872 Fisher branch Rd at 5pm on Saturday, August 21 for visitation. The funeral service was Sunday at 4pm at Bethabara Baptist Church and the burial followed in the Ben Family Cemetery.
Ray Kinsland officiated. The Rev. Bo Parris sang at the gravesite. Pallbearers were Dee Dee Wildcatt, Victor Wildcatt, Curtis Wildcatt, Richie Wildcatt, Sam Reed, Chris Kirkland and Steven Kirkland.
Long House Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
