CULLOWHEE – Barbara “Sunshine” Parker, human services director for the Public Health and Human Services Division of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), will provide the annual public lecture in native health at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Western Carolina University.
Parker will speak on the topic “Interconnectedness: Serving the Whole Individual through Integration” in Room 204 of WCU’s Health and Human Sciences Building. Her talk is free and open to everyone.
In her role with the EBCI, Parker oversees the family safety program, child advocacy, juvenile services and the domestic violence program. An enrolled member of the tribe, she earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work and a law degree at the University of Tennessee.
