Cherokee Pride, an initiative to celebrate superior guest service, launched this month.  Cherokee Pride will recognize one business in three different categories throughout the tourism season in Cherokee.  Businesses will be nominated by customers and clients and chosen by the Cherokee Welcome Center and Cherokee Chamber of Commerce.

“Improving the Cherokee visitor experience is an important part of building strong economic viability for Cherokee,” says Tonya Carroll, EBCI Destination Marketing manager.  “Last year, our occupancy rate was up 3 percent and our total room revenue is up approximately 7 percent, contributing approximately $3.7 million to the Boundary’s economy.”

Visitors are encouraged to fill out nomination forms.  They are available at the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce, the Cherokee Welcome Center and area businesses and attractions.  If you’d like some for your place of business, contact the Cherokee Welcome Center or Cherokee Chamber of Commerce at info@cherokeesmokies.com.

One person will be picked in three categories in June, August, and October.  The three categories are: Retail, Lodging and Restaurants. The only criteria for participation is the business must pay Tribal levy and/or privilege tax.

The winning businesses will have a profile in the Cherokee One Feather and be featured on the Visit Cherokee Facebook page during the month they are chosen.
