William Woodrow Cornwell, 53, of the Birdtown Community, passed away unexpectedly on July 27, 2014 while traveling home to his family.
Will was the son of the late Bryan Cornwell and surviving mother Inez Welch. He was the loving husband to Charlene (Hensley) Cornwell and made their home at 65 Kenneth Cooper Rd., Whittier. Will was a Pastor who was non-denominational but believed in the teachings of Jesus Christ. He loved the outdoors and was drawn to the water. He will be terribly missed.
Will is also survived by his children, Will Joseph Cornwell of Starr, S.C., Jamie Dean Cornwell of Etowah, Tenn., Billy Starr Cornwell, Brandon Lee Cornwell both of Cherokee, Anthony Thompson of Bryson City, and Arian Thompson of Cherokee; sisters, Elisabeth Edwards and husband Lee Edwards, Elsie Biddix and husband John and Jessica Hornbuckle; three grandchildren; numerous aunts and uncles and nieces and nephews.
Along with his father, Will is preceded in death by a brother, Herman Gene Cornwell.
A visitation is planned on Tuesday, July 29 starting at 5pm at the Rock Hill Baptist church in the Birdtown Community where the body will remain till the hour of service of 1pm on Wednesday, July 30 with Pastor Red Woodard officiating. An immediate burial will follow the service in the Birdtown Cemetery with Joseph Cornwell, Jamie Cornwell, Billy Cornwell, Adrian “Skippy” Thompson, Brett Grady, David Edwards and Andrew Edwards acting as pall bearers.
Long House Funeral Home is assisting the family in the final arrangements.
