Harold Belton “Rock” Morgan Jr., 83, of the Cherokee community passed away at his home on Old Mission Rd. on April 12, 2014. Although a native son of Sylva, born on July 14, 1930, Harold spent the better part of his life with his wife and family in the Cherokee area.
Harold was the son of the late Harold Belton Morgan Sr. and Edith (Jarrett) Whittworth Morgan of the Sylva community. He was a US Army veteran and served in the Korean War. Harold loved to read passing the time and he loved trains. He even worked for Southern Railroads in his past; however, he was self-employed most of his life.
Harold leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years Mrs. Rachel George Morgan; son, Bunky Morgan of Cherokee; two brothers, Griffith Morgan of Sylva, and Larry Morgan of Arden; two loved grandchildren, Kyle and Dylan Morgan; and one loved great-grand child, Brooklyn Morgan.
