Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, Tenn. will be celebrating Sequoyah Remembrance Day and Sequoyah’s contribution to the Cherokee people by creating a writing system, the Cherokee Syllabary with free admission to the museum on Sunday, Aug. 4 from 12-5 p.m. Allen Fugate will be demonstrating Silversmithing along with other Cherokee artisans demonstrating their skills. Learn about the history of the Cherokees in the Civil War with Thomas’ Legion. The 1809 Cherokee Blacksmith shop will be up and running with demonstrations all day.
