A 27-year-old man was allegedly murdered Saturday, March 2 at the Old NC 288 Boat Ramp in Swain County, and now eight men have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in his death.
Calup Joe Caston was allegedly killed at the boat ramp on Saturday night.
“A case like this is always under investigation until it goes to trial,” said Swain County Sheriff Curtis Cochran.
The eight men charged include: Curtis Price, 17; Travor George, 17; Joshua Calhoun, 18; Joshua Price, 20; Corey Jenkins, 20; Marcos Cardonne, 22; Troy Boston, 24; and Correy Price, 24.
Sheriff Cochran said the men have an arraignment hearing set for Thursday, March 14 and all are currently being held at the Swain County Jail without bond.
“It’s a real tragedy,” said Sheriff Cochran.
