Randolph Scott Pheasant, 59, of Cherokee passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 8, 2013 at the Cherokee Indian Hospital. He was known to his family and friends as Scott.
Scott was the son of the late Driver Pheasant and Emily “Nettie” Swayney Pheasant of Cherokee. He was the Fiancé to Ms. Susanne Crawford of Cherokee. Scott was employed recently with the Cherokee VOC but was a performer at heart. Scott was a musician and dancer of many Native American styles of dance and probably has entertained thousands since he started dancing around age 14.
He is survived by daughters; Janice Pheasant Sequoyah and husband Emerson, Randalena Pheasant and fiancé Charlie Bird, Laural Emily Pheasant and step children; Kristie Sadongie, Joey Sadongie, Kim Sadongie and Paul Sadongie; 5 brothers; Driver Pheasant Jr., Perry Pheasant, Jimmy Pheasant and George Pheasant all of Cherokee and Daniel Pheasant of Indiana. 4 sisters; Regina Ledford, Melissa Queen and Ollie Pheasant all of Cherokee and Anita Panell of Cullowhee. 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandchild, 12 Step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie and Jessie Pheasant.
A planned visitation was held on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at the Pentecostal Holiness Church of the Big Cove community. Scott remained at the church till the hour of service on Thursday, Jan. 10 at 2pm with Pastor Betty Drake and Pastor Doris McMillan officiating. The Pall Bearers were Mark Ledford, Frank Driver, Christopher Ledford, Stanley Queen, Michael Pheasant and Brandon Pheasant.
