Solomon (Bud) McCoy, 75, of the Birdtown community went home to be with his wife and the Lord Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 in Tsali Care Center. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of the late Jesse and Ethel Owle McCoy. Bud was employed as a Hard Rock Miner and also was a bus driver for Cherokee Boys Club. He was an avid hunter and dog trader. He was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winona McCoy, and an infant child, Thomas.
He is survived by two children, Mickie Crowe and husband Pee Wee of Cherokee, Dave McCoy and wife Vickie of Cherokee; six grandchildren, Peanut Crowe, Dick Crowe, Skooter McCoy, Bo Crowe, Sasha Watty, Taz McCoy; 12 great grandchildren, Madison Crowe, Tagan Crowe, Spencer McCoy, Dre Crowe, Riley Crowe, Garrett McCoy, Ian Crowe, Dali Crowe, Emma McCoy, Boie Crowe, Suri Watty, Livi Crowe; one sister, Joan Fowler; brothers, Charles McCoy and Willard McCoy all of Cherokee; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Thursday at Aquoni Baptist Chapel. Ray Kinsland and Rev. Ed Kilgore will officiate with burial in Birdtown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-11p.m. Wednesday at Aquoni Baptist Chapel.
