CHEROKEE RUNNERS
The Cherokee Runners will be participating in the 2012 Smoky Mountain Relay and is seeking runners to register and participate in the 207-mile race. This event is very challenging as the course includes paved roads, gravel roads, trails and lots of hills. It begins in Brevard on the morning of April 20 and ends the evening of April 21 at Nantahala Outdoor Center. Each member of the twelve-member team will run between 13 and 20 miles and the run will continue through the night. It is an exciting event and a lot of fun.
The second event is the 2012 Moccasin Run that is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26. It will begin at 7am at Straight Fork Bridge in Big Cove and end at the old high school. This run is ten miles and will include at least two water stops. All runners should complete the run by 9am. This event is considered a group run and will not be competitive.
If you are interested in participating in either of these events, please e-mail gerrgrady@yahoo.com or stphnswimmer@aol.com. You may also visit the next Cherokee Runners meeting which will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7pm at the Age Link Conference Room.
