Nellie Driver, 79, of Cherokee passed away at Cherokee Indian Hospital following a brief illness. She was a member of Waterfall Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jonah and Lucinda Wolfe Thompson; her foster parents, Alice and Jackson Thompson; her husband, John G. Driver; daughter, Jeanette Jumper; son, Joseph Driver; grand-daughter, Angel Driver; son-in-law, Adam Blackfox; sisters, Amanda Queen, Luzene Thompson, and Geneva Walkingstick; and a brother, Menoch Catolster.
Surviving are her daughters, Alice Driver, Lucille Blackfox, Carolyn Tooni and husband Larch; sons, Roy Driver, Sr., John N. Driver and wife Linda; sisters, Margaret Sneed, Nan Brown; and two brothers, Leroy and Joe Thompson; fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 6 PM to 10 PM at the chapel of Long House Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at 2 PM on Thursday September 1, 2011. The Rev. Jim Bo Sneed and the Rev. Red Bradley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Driver Family Cemetery.
Pall Bearers will be Tuff Jackson, Mike Parker, Mike Thompson, Dudley Lequire, Frank Driver, Bear Driver, and Will Driver.
Long House Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
