On Thursday, Feb., 4, in between the varsity girls and boys games in the new Cherokee High School Arena, the CHS Athletic Department honored Will Poolaw for his years of service and support to the Cherokee Braves.

In this honoring ceremony, Ray Kinsland (voice of the Braves) said, “At this time the Cherokee High School athletic family would like to recognize a young man who has been part of our family for the past ten years.  His unconditional love and caring for the players and coaches of CHS have been unmatched by any other.  Words that describe this young man include drive, determination, sacrifice, and an undying support of his beloved Braves.

“A good steward is someone who is doing his very best with the things that God has given him.  Will is an excellent example of a good steward.

“We can only give a small token back to such a fine young man who has given so much to the athletic program of Cherokee High School.”

Ray Kinsland ("The Voice of the Braves") hugs Poolaw following the plaque presentation.

Will joined the Braves, Lady Braves, and coaches at mid-court to receive a plaque that reads:  “In appreciation of the loyalty and dedication to the Cherokee Braves Athletic Family for the past 10 years.  No one works harder for the Maroon and Gold!”

The presenting of the plaque was met with a standing ovation from both the home crowd and the visitors (fans and players) from Robbinsville, who were gracious in their support for this award.

School officials related, “A very special “thank you” to both Will and to his family. We look forward to the next ten years!”
