Bertha Mathews Pilkington, 82, of the Towstring Community, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 17, 2025. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Seab and Floy Lambert Mathews and wife of the late Buddy Pilkington.

Agnes I. Gerding went peacefully to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at the age of 94.

Bernard Kenneth Biddle Jr., age 73, also known as “Kenny”, passed away at Vero Health and Rehab on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, after an extended illness.

Lloyd Leslie Ledford, age 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.

Tom Queen Jr., 63, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, in Florida surrounded by his loving family.

Georgia Imogene Toineeta Hunter, 71, of Cherokee, N.C., passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.  Georgia was born Feb. 17, 1953 to the late Howard and Tiney Smith Toineeta in Cherokee.  

Ted Henry Treadway, 79, of Whittier, N.C., passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late James Nelson and Julia Lambert Treadway.

Jamie Ray Jenkins, age 40, passed away at home on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, after an extended illness.
