Dear Cherokee Elementary Families,
Welcome to the opening of a new and promising school year! Our first day for students is Aug. 7. At this time of year, there is always great anticipation of what is to come. Our goals are to challenge our students academically, grow them socially, and prepare them for life as 21st century citizens. We will also continue focusing on character development through Sacred Path which encourages students to demonstrate the best of themselves every moment of everyday!
We are especially proud to announce that our schedule will include a 20-minute block of time for self-selected reading each day. Students and staff in grades 1-5 will participate in “Read Bravely” starting at 8:10 and ending at 8:30. PreK and Kindergarten students and staff will read each day beginning at 8:40. We are committed to promoting the love of reading by providing a variety of reading materials and serving as role models for our students!
We are ready to begin the 2013/2014 school year! Teachers and staff have been planning throughout the summer in preparation for the arrival of our students. The excitement and enthusiasm in our building is refreshing! Please join us on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 4pm-6pm, for Open House.
