SAPULPA, Okla. – John Daniel Smith, Sr., 56, formerly of Cherokee passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 in Sapulpa, Okla. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of James (Buck) Smith of Cherokee and the late Elsie Hornbuckle Smith. Daniel had lived in Oklahoma for the past 35 years. He was an artist.
In addition to his father, he is survived by three sons, Nathaniel Smith of Cushing, Okla., James Louis (Arrow) Smith and wife Nina of Chickasha, Okla., John Daniel Smith, Jr. of Sapulpa, Okla.; one sister, Anita Flanagan of Tuscumbia, AL; one brother, James (Bud) Smith of Cherokee; five grandchildren; and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17 at Yellowhill Baptist Church. Rev. Forman Bradley will officiate with burial in the Yellowhill Cemetery.
The body will be taken to the church at 5p.m. Wednesday by Crisp Funeral Home to await the hour of service.
