Edna McCoy Lambert, 95, of the Birdtown Community went home to be with the Lord and her loved ones, Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in a Cherokee Indian Hospital. A native of Cherokee, she was the daughter of the late Dave and Mary Etta Griffin McCoy and wife of the late George Hugh Jasper Lambert. She was a Tribal Elder and a well known healer. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers.
She was the baby of the family and was preceded in death by six sisters; two brothers; two sons, (Chief) Henry Ray Lambert and George Hugh (June Bug) Lambert, Jr.; one daughter, Juletta Jane (Janie) Welch; and one grandson, Richard Lee (Dicky) Welch.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Etta Lambert of Cherokee, Linda Joyce Lambert of Cherokee; two daughters-in-law, Patsy and Lois Lambert both of Cherokee; 13 grandchildren, Tavish Lambert Brown, Terri Welch Bradley, Scott Welch, Robin Lambert, George Lambert, Henrietta Lambert, Pat Watkins, Dee Dee Huff, Patrick Lambert, Angie Gunter, Edwina Lambert, Connie Green, Rita Grasty; 28 great grandchildren; 20 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Revs. Ben Tapp and Richard Sneed will officiate with burial in the Birdtown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
