The fifth year of Fun Fitness will begin on Feb.15 from 4-5pm Cherokee Life Center. Fun Fitness is a Kid Program especially designed with Fun Activities guaranteed to get “Kids Moving”!
The program is open to youth ages 5-15 years for boys and girls. Fun Fitness offers a variety of physical activities, nutritional snacks with information, and healthy opportunities for the children to participate in and/or be introduced to. The purpose of the program is to provide safe games and exercises for the youth that will promote regular physical activity, healthy and properly proportioned snacks that lead to an ongoing wholesome lifestyle.
Each meeting, the kids will be led through fun physical activities such as: proper use of the Kid Exercise machines, agility dots, stability ball, bowling, kickball, hula hoop, parachute, swimming, Frisbee throw/catch, jump rope, volleyball, badminton, and much more. Then, a healthy snack will be provided along with information that the instructor will explain and ask questions to introduce “label reading”.
The schedule for Fun Fitness is Tuesdays in the gym so be sure children wear shorts or sweat pants, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes. Thursdays are in the pool, so bring bathing suits and a towel.
Parents must complete and turn in a Fun Fitness Application to the Cherokee Life Center. Please confirm your application is received with Ahli-sha Stephens 497-1968 or Lynn Taylor 497-1969. Children who attend Cherokee Central Schools may ride bus #15 and get off at the Cherokee Life Center. A Cherokee Life Center Staff person will meet the kids in front of the CLC, walk them in safely and check attendance.
Everyone is welcome to be a part of Fun Fitness. Please check with your school for their respective bus #. Parents must communicate directly with the named staff to ensure the safety of your child.
The program will end 5pm and parents are required to pick their child up as close to that as possible.
Fun Fitness is ideal for children wanting to be involved in positive experiences where they can have fun while improving their quality of life physically. For more information, contact Justin Jumper or Ahli-sha Stephens at 497-1968 or Lynn Taylor 497-1969.
Lynn is a wellness supervisor at the Cherokee Life Center.
