BASKETBALL: Cherokee players named to ACT’s All-WNC team

Several Cherokee High School players, as well as several EBCI tribal members at other schools, were selected to the Asheville Citizen-Times All-WNC basketball team.  Jason McMillan, Braves senior point guard, was named to the first team.  Also named All-Big Smoky Mountain Conference and All-District, McMillan averaged 20.7 points and 4.2 steals a game this past season.  Jayce Wolfe, an EBCI tribal member at Smoky Mountain, was also named to the first team.  He led the area with an average of 8.5 assists per game on his way to a fourth straight All-WNCAC season.

Justus Day, Braves sophomore forward, was named to the second team along with senior guard Damon Ledford, an EBCI tribal member at Smoky Mountain.

Cherokee had five players named Honorable Mention including: Tye Mintz, Holden Straughan, Logan Teesateskie, Kennan Panther and Steven Straughan.

On the girls side, Pooh King, Lady Braves junior point guard, was named to the second team.  Her teammates, Tori Teesateskie, Bree Stamper and Shelby Wolfe were all named Honorable Mention.  Shay Tisho, an EBCI tribal member at Smoky Mountain, also received an Honorable Mention nod.
