I want to express my extreme gratitude to the Richard “Yogi” Crowe Memorial Scholarship committee for selecting to fund me during my final semester of graduate school. I am currently working on my master’s degree in social work from Western Carolina University. I was selected to be in the Advanced Standing program, which has enabled me to obtain my MSW in one year instead of two. The work has been challenging, but rewarding as well.

I am currently doing my field practicum at Analenisgi, located on the Qualla Boundary. This field placement has enabled me to work with tribal members that suffer from substance abuse and/ or mental illness. The funding that I obtained from the Richard “Yogi” Crowe Memorial Scholarship Fund has assisted me in purchasing supplemental materials that benefit my learning experience, as well as helped me purchase study materials needed to take my state exam for licensure upon graduation.

Once again, I am humbled by your choice to grant me this award. Funding offered by foundations like this help out tremendously, and I am forever grateful.
