On behalf of the children and staff of the Cherokee Children’s Home, I would like to send a heart-felt thank you to all those in the community who reached out to us this Christmas season.  The children were truly blessed with a wonderful holiday season.

Thank you to Tribal Council for the Holiday stuffing we received at the Chef’s Stage Buffet.  Thank you to Chief Hicks and his wonderful family for the afternoon in Asheville looking at the gingerbread houses at the Grove Park Inn, eating lunch and of course, shopping!  Thank you to the Cherokee Fire Department for bringing Santa by with gifts for the children.

Thank you to the Cherokee Hospital Nursing Managers for the kind donation.  Thank you to Patrick Lambert for his generous donation to the staff and children. Thank you to the Cherokee School System Sacred Path participants for the generous donation that was made. Thank you to the Swain County High School Student Council for their gift to us.  Thank you to our amazing volunteer, Ms. Opal, who always knows how to treat us all year long!  Thank you to our new friends, Gary and Kathy Collier from Tennessee who have reached out a helping hand.

It is truly amazing to witness a community embracing the spirit of Christmas and thoughtful giving this time of year.  As you can see, many people from near and far thought of our children and helped make a difference this Christmas.  This is the first time in recent memory that none of the children were able to leave the Children’s Home to visit with their family. This means that while many of us were busy bustling about and enjoying time with our families, these children and the staff that care for them, were making do with our own version of family and friends.

Please know that all you have done for us this season has helped turn this into one of the best holiday seasons in so many ways.

Thank you to all.  Please stay in touch with us.
